Salted Butter V/S Unsalted Butter

I often get asked, should I use salted butter or unsalted butter and my answer is of course salted butter! I will be explaining why I prefer salted butter and why sometimes it is important to use unsalted butter, and if you are interested then keep on reading!

As I mentioned earlier I like using salted butter instead of unsalted butter, that is because I think that using salted butter just enhances the flavour of any baked good and if you don’t want to use salted butter you can use unsalted butter. The ratio that I have been using since I started baking is to add salted butter and subtract a quarter teaspoon of salt from the recipe or use unsalted butter and add a quarter teaspoon of salt to the recipe, I think this ratio works pretty well for me and you should give it a try for yourself!

Now talking about frostings I do like to use unsalted butter for frostings that is because frostings do not need that much salt, usually they just need about an eighth of a teaspoon of salt hence using unsalted butter as the base is necessary.

So, in conclusion I highly recommend you guys to give salted butter a try if you haven’t already!
